My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blooms In the vineyards of En Gedi.
The Shulamite is speaking of King Solomon, her beloved. “Henna” is a shrubbery or small tree with fragrant flowers. The “vineyards of En Gedi” were well known for their beauty and pleasing fragrance.
Jesus, our beloved, is like a cluster of henna blooms In the vineyards of En Gedi. His personality is like a cluster of henna blooms; rather than a single flower. This speaks of the diversity and abundance of beauty that He possesses. He is all together beautiful; lacking nothing. Everything about Him is perfect; His thoughts, His emotions, His intentions, His actions, and His speech. Jesus is not boring as some assume, but He is perpetually fascinating and enjoyable.
Jesus, you are my beloved and there is no one like you. Open the eyes of my heart Lord. Search me and know me God; show me any places in my understanding that I am seeing you as boring or burdensome. Let me experience more of your beauty today; fascinate my heart. Thank you that I can know you! Thank you that I can experience you! You are truly enjoyable to be with and beautiful to behold!
